The Artificial Sun is a giant globe originally created by the Science Ministry for the colony on Pluto. After being stolen by Kinsakukuit was hidden on Cruciform Island. The Artificial Sun was used to dig on Cruciform Island that Kinsakuku could find what was hidden there. The Sun can also be used as a weapon. It can sprout arms and grow larger as it is hit. The Sun is extremely hot, Astro only managed to defeat it because he could withstand temperatures up to 900 degrees.

The Artificial Sun might have been the base for the "alien attack" at the end of the Astro Boy 2009 CGI movie.
