Friday is a "story telling robot" and a birthday present for the girl Nina. He is the only fairy story telling robot referenced in the entire 2003 series. Obviously, he believes in fairies, and attempted to catch them many times (much to Nina's surprise, as she realizes the fairy is a gift for her) and eventually catches Astro, starting their next adventure.
