When Jump is reintroduced to the rebuilt robotic Tobio, Jump is uncomfortable and growls at Tobio. It takes a long time for Jump to get used to Astro and trust him, but when he does, he goes back to being the boy's loyal dog. Jump was rescued from the Tenma estate by Professor Ochanomizu, who also built Astro's parents and set the family up with a suburban home. Throughout the 1980 series, Jump can be seen with Astro's family at home or out in Metro City.
In the episode "Robot Vikings", Jump is terribly injured while trying to fend off intruders from Astro's house. Much to Uran and Astro's horror, Jump's condition worsens, while the robot vikings are still on the loose. Luckily, Atlas makes a serum to save Jump's life, as thanks for Astro rescuing Livian. Jump heals completely and keeps living happily with Astro's family.
