Magnamite is a power station robot that supplies Metro City's power. It was designed in the form of a giant mechanical spider.
Story[]
Dr. Hiroshi Ochanomizu sent an emergency message to the Metro City power plant to reroute the city's power supply to the Ministry of Science in an effort to complete Astro Boy's awakening. Though the procedure was successful, Magnamite became overloaded with power and lost control, breaking out of its generator room and rampaging across the city.
Astro confronted the robot in an effort to save Dr. Ochanomizu. During the battle, the two realized they could communicate with each other, and Astro offered to absorb the excess energy from the giant robot into his own body. As a result, Magnamite came to his senses and returned to the power plant, where he continued supplying the city's energy.
