Manga[]
A robot mountain guide from Switzerland who was one of the seven strongest robots in the world and had over 100,000 horsepower. While chopping wood, he met and was destroyed by Pluto. He appeared in the manga story arc, The World's Greatest Robots. He is also friends with the Turkish robot Brando, who appeared attempting to avenge Montblanc.
1963[]
In the 1963 version, Montblanc is almost exactly the same, though the fight was extended to be a minute long. and this time, he actually fights back by throwing a log at Pluto (and then it snaps on contact with Pluto. He appears unhurt by the attack.) and then attempts to charge him.
1980[]
In the 1980 version, Montblanc is again, the same. However, the fight was shortened to be less than a minute.
2003 series[]
He made a cameo appearance in the 2003 series as a minion of Grudon sent against Pluto. However, he quickly destroyed along with North and Brando.
Astro Boy: Omega Factor[]
Montblanc makes an appearance in the video game Astro Boy: Omega Factor, however he is renamed as "Brontus". He appears in Stage 7, "World's Strongest Robots", where Astro (not Pluto) has to fight five powerful robots. He looks like his version of the 2003 anime, Brontus is the third of the robots Astro fights.
Brontus' body is almost entirely invincible, except for the blue core on him, that's Astro target area. Brontus can suddenly turn into a spiky ball, similar to Brando, and either jump back when he hits the other of the screen or go around the whole screen. After he does this, he will stop rest. Brontus can also retract his arms and legs and bounce around invincible, sometimes he can suddenly turn into this form while in a ball. His last attack can fire balls of energy at Astro from his core.
After Brontus is defeated in Rebirth, the Kinsankaku is freed and added to the Omega Factor.
Pluto[]
Like in the original series, Montblanc is a Swiss mountain robot that was killed at the beginning of the story. Only this time, he was already dead when the manga begins, Professor Reinhart (his "father") was calling out him during what appeared to be a wildfire, Montblanc's pieces were soon found and the whole world mourned him. A news report described him as a mountaineering, forest service robot, he was very popular with children and hikers and "a great boon to Swiss tourism." It was also said that he restored stability to Persian states, captured terrorists, and brought peace to Asia. He was also a poet who sang with birds and conversed with trees.
Gesicht visited the site, the area of Luzern where Montblanc, programmed with logging enthusiasm worked as a forest ranger. It was deduced from horns that the killer of Montblanc was a robot who also killed a human named Bernard Ranke. A funeral was held for Montblanc, one man who worked on it was saved from an avalanche by Montblanc, most of them were volunteers. Montblanc did not want a statue of him ruining the alps, he wanted his remains to be crushed and recycled.
It is later revealed he was killed due his involvement in The 39th Central Asian Conflict, he was a member of the peace keeping forces.
