Pecora is Uran's pet bird, who she rescued and nursed back to health. He is Uran's best friend and often follows her wherever she goes. Pecora only appears in Uran-focused episodes of the 2003 series and the Akira Himekawa manga.

Name

Pecora's name depends on the dubbed version. In the Japanese version, when Uran brings Pecora home, she is surprised by how hungry he is. She then names him "Pecora"; this comes from how "peko-peko" is a Japanese sound effect for a growling empty stomach.

In the English dub, he is named Houdini. Uran names him this due to how suddenly his flock appeared flying in the park; Uran says that "he appeared out of nowhere, just like magic."

Appearance

Pecora is small compared to other birds of his type, and he is likely the runt of his litter. He is a small, rotund, fluffy parrot. He is lime green, with yellow spots on his face and dark green spots on the edges of his wings. He is very expressive for a bird.
