Platinum is a non-reoccuring robotic side-protagonist in the Astro Boy series. He is a leader of the guerrilla resistance forces of Golgonia, a country that appears to be heavily inspired by Nazi Germany in the 1930s-1940s. Platinum is so far only limited to the manga and the 1963 Astro Boy television series, appearing in the chapter "Ghost Manufacturing Machine", with the television episode being named the same.
Appearance[]
Platinum appears to be a robot resembling the age of a human teenager/young adult. He has short, dark hair with a curved spike, aiming backwards. It seems to have a resemblance to Astro's hair, particularly with the change of position based on the current angle. He wears a black, short-sleeved top with a v-shaped collar that reveals a part of his chest, along with a black scarf wrapped around his neck that protrudes in 2 tails out the back. He wears shorts with a patterned stripe down the side, and has knee-high boots, which also bare a resemblance to Astro. In some scenes, he is seen holding a rifle.
Personality[]
Platinum is quite a friendly character, as he is seen happily greeting Astro and shaking his hand as soon as he arrives. However, he is not afraid to stand up for what is better for him and his robot comrades. On the outside, he appears to be very strong and righteous, with a determined attitude and a reckless fighting strategy. But throughout the chapter, it is shown that he is very caring and quite emotional, particularly towards his dear friends and father. He is even shown tearing up and nearly crying at times when his loved ones were harmed or in danger.
