Pook is a recurring character in the "Astro Boy" franchise.
Manga[]
Pook is a robot on Crucifix Island who takes a disliking to Astro Boy. His story is much the same as he is in the other iterations.
1963 series[]

Pook is named Bobo in the 1963 series. Bobo is a troublemaking orphan robot who was left on Cross Island after his father was arrested. Later, his father returned to finish Bobo, Bobo turned out to be a shape-shifting robot. His father then used him to steal all the precious gemstones and minerals on Cross Island Bobo was defeated by Astro Boy shortly afterward.

Pook is a troublemaking orphan robot who was left on Cross Island after his father was arrested. He is shown to be pretty agile and brave even before being completed. He refuses to listen to anyone besides his father, which is rather troublesome. His Father broke out of prison with the help of a gang leader who, after completion of Pook, forced Pook's father to use Pook to steal the valuables on Cross Island.
2003 series[]
Pook does not appear in the 2003 series.
Astro Boy: Omega Factor[]
Pook plays a fairly important role in the Astro Boy: Omega Factor video game. Although he can still transform, his design is modelled after Pick from "Majin Garon".
He first appears on Cruciform Island in his Leo Force form (Kimba, the White Lion). He recognizes Astro from before, but he says they never met. Pook quickly left as the Amazing Three, who were looking for him, arrived. Skunk, who was working for Kinsankaku, who found him a voice told him to dig under the island, was using him to steal. When Astro arrived, Skunk promised that he would let Pook go if he fought so Pook reluctantly complied. Pook's boss fight alternates between four forms:
The Leo Force takes the form of the lion. Usually, Pook just roars and jumps towards Astro’s current location, dealing damage if he connects. But if Astro’s standing directly next to him, Pook would grab and gnaw him, dealing massive damage and sends Astro flying. Occasionally, Pook can also conjure up a green energy aura, protecting him from any damage. The Quntole Force takes the form of a bird. This form can swoop down in an arc towards Astro, attempting to hit him with its talons. Pook can also move to one side and shoot a variable number of fireballs diagonally downwards. At any point, Pook can fire a series of orange feathers upwards past the top of the screen, which then rain down as flaming projectiles. The Hanumaan Force takes the form of a monkey. In this form, Pook can extend his tail either directly ahead or diagonally upwards. When doing it directly ahead, Pook can sometimes rapidly pull himself to his tail’s tip. The Bahamute Force takes the form of a shark. When Pook takes this form, he immediately hides himself within the ground, remaining visible through a moving section of water but otherwise becoming invulnerable. However, he occasionally leaps out of the ground then falls back into the "water" allowing Astro to attack but also get hurt. Pook can also raise his dorsal fin above the surface then swim back and forth on the ground.
After the battle, Pook begs Astro to save Mu, he is repaired by Dr. O'Shay while Skunk and Kinsankaku are arrested. Pook later appears on the continent of Mu, thirty thousand years in the past. He saves Astro, Wally, and Rock from Sharaku and Don Dracula. This time, it is Pook who doesn't know Astro even though the latter recognizes him. Wally realizes that this is a time paradox.
In the Rebirth section of the game, Astro asks Pook to remember what happened to Mu and Sharaku, but he can't remember. After Astro frees Pinoko from Skunk, Pook disappears. He doesn't reappear until after the boss fight with Sharaku and Death Mask. Sharaku reveals that Pook is in fact Pick, who uses his Heart Force to collect all the Omotanium in Death Mask to create Garon. However, Astro is able to defeat Garon and then turn the sun back to normal after the Omotanium fell into it. Pook was last seen with Sharaku after the credits telling him that that they can give up their villainy and open up a café since they can't beat Astro. Sharaku was against this idea, but fortunately Wato arrived and sealed his psy powers by putting a bandage on his head.

- The monkey form of Hanumaan Force is only a unique form of Pook in the video game.
- "Hanumaan" is a homage to the monkey god from the Hindu epic, Ramayana. "Quntole" means condor in Quenchuan, the language of the Inca, Empire. "Bahamute" is a play on Bahamut, a sea monster from ancient pre-Islamic Arabian mythology. The name "Leo" most likely comes from the zodiac constellation of the same name, but Pook takes the form of Kimba, the White Lion, another creation of Osamu Tezuka. The fact that Pook saves Astro, Wally and Rock in this form is a homage to Kimba's role in Undersea Super Train: Marine Express.
