Saburo is a human who was a member of Daichi Tokugawa's motorcycle gang. He was Daichi's right-hand man and friend, even being part of the Tokugawa space station incident that killed Daichi. Saburo was originally unnamed in the Japanese version, only credited as "Biker Gang Member", and then later named in the English dub. Saburo appears exclusively in the episode "Atlas" of the 2003 anime series.

Saburo is a human male aged somewhere in his late teens. He, like the other members of the bike gang, is close to Daichi's age. He has feathered blue hair in a bob cut, styled with spiked horns on either side of his head. He has striking facial features, with a sharp nose and big grey eyes.

Saburo's usual cruising outfit is a jean vest with heavy shoulder pads, high-waisted jeans, bulky gloves, and a yellow crew neck T-shirt. He wears polarized motorcycle goggles and red angular face paint markings.

Personality[]

A diehard punk, Saburo is wild and in-your-face. He and the rest of Daichi's gang had a penchant for causing chaos and harassing strangers on the road. Saburo was a good friend to Daichi, albeit only when the latter was a human.

Upon learning Daichi is a robot, Saburo and the other gang members begin to mock Daichi to his face. In the same moment, Saburo admits that the gang only hung out with Daichi because of his family's power and wealth. The gang is surprised when Daichi does not take this information well and vengefully transforms into Atlas.

2003 Anime[]

Months before the events of "Atlas", Saburo is seen cruising with Daichi Tokugawa's motorcycle gang. He follows Daichi to the Tokugawa spaceport, thrilled to be able to raid the facility and mess around with the equipment. Saburo was not a direct witness to Daichi's shuttle accident, but was aware Daichi died.

Later on, Saburo is seen leading the motorcycle gang, harassing a couple in their car. Saburo is startled to see Daichi pull up on his old motorcycle, even nearly running Saburo over. The gang is shocked to see Daichi lives again, and Daichi explains that he was revived as a robot. Saburo cannot believe it, and wanting proof, tears open Daichi's shirt to reveal Daichi's metal chest. The gang begins to mock Daichi for being a robot.

Daichi, angered, discovers he can transform into his battle mode. He then decides to test his powers out on his former friends, calling them "guinea pigs". Saburo and the rest of the gang begin to run away from Atlas's plasma cannon blast. Saburo and the gang are said to have been taken to the hospital, and his broken goggles can be seen on the ground at the crime scene. However, his exact fate is unknown.
