Trashcan is a robot dog of above-average intelligence, who lives with Hamegg and his foster children. Trashcan appears exclusively in the 2009 Astro Boy movie and its official comic adaptation.
Appearance[]
He is an early robot, like Zog, and has a simple, streamlined design with limited colors. Trashcan is beige, with brown markings on his head, body, and legs, similar to the markings on a beagle. His joints are kept in place with large round fasteners.
Trashcan was designed to be a garbage can that could move on its own. As a result, he has limited articulation and appears to be of a lightweight metal, which allows him to move quickly. His eyes are blue OLEDs that can express his emotions accordingly.

Trashcan and the rest of his family
Trashcan is programmed to act just like an organic domestic dog. He is plucky and energetic, and able to play tricks with Cora, Astro, and the other kids. Trashcan is a basic AI robot, but this makes him smarter than an average dog. He can read and write and accept complicated orders.
He is quite similar to Jump in how he becomes Astro's loyal pet dog.
Abilities[]
- Carrying objects: Trashcan's light design allows him to have a hollow carrying area inside his body. He will "eat" items, like junk parts the kids are gathering, and drops the items back out from his mouth to give them back.
- Intelligence: Trashcan is able to read in multiple languages, and even knows how to write. He at one point attempts to talk to Zane by writing letters in dirt.
